My offering for the Mindscapes Community Project
Reproducing the poem I submitted to Malrik Raithmoor—The Liturgist’s Mindscapes Community Project. My words are amongst other amazing creators in this cohesive album, crafted by Malrik. The quality of his work is always excellent, and he weaves our words in such a way that our individual voices are never lost.
There is a darkness, confusion
A labyrinth of walls and illusion
Doorways moving, floors shifting
Pathways eternally twisting
Suffocated with expectation

Central star, shine bright
Embers drift, take flight

Regolith surface, titanium barbs
Inky light which smothers guards
Every step a fight, a brutal war
Mind broken, keeping score
Cruel discordant screams

A choir of sighs, howling raw song
Cycling remembered thoughts belong
Progress soured by infection
A key to blazing resurrection
Ghosted by memory

Connections form, spark with gratitude
Company for imposed solitude
A sacrifice made over and again
Always honouring the siren pen
What’s trapped seeks release
